Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier

PMS:  Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: Bananas are extremely high in potassium yet low in salt making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: Bananas are High in fiber, and including them in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Heart Burn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body so if you suffer from heart-burn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

FOR HEADACHES:
at the first sign of a headache, put a small ice pack on your neck, at
the base of your skull, keep it there for a minute or two and then repeat a few times until headache diminishes.

FOR ARTHRITIS OR DEPRESSION:
increase intake of omega 3 fats, such as contained in tuna, mackerel, sardines, salmon ... or take cod liver oil. There are actually good tasting varieties on the market.

FOR COLD SORES:
Try 2,000 to 3,000 mg of L-lysine along with a high protein low carb diet at the first sign of lip tingling. L-lysine is in white pill form and is simply a form of protein that cold sore viruses HATE. It can prevent cold sores from appearing and also spread healing if a sore has become established.

TO IMPROVE SLEEP FOR PRE & POST MENOPAUSAL WOMEN: (Also improves quality of hair) try using a little natural progesterone cream. Just rub about a 1/4 of a teaspoon into the thighs or stomach before going to bed at night. Read Dr. John R. Lees book for further information.

FOR PMS:
try taking 400 mg of magnesium for the two weeks prior to menstrual bleeding. Foods high in magnesium include avocados, soy, peanut butter, oatmeal, almonds.

FOR SEVERE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS:
try doing some light weight training. Weight training releases natural enzymes into the blood stream that decrease prostaglandins (substances that increase menstrual cramps). Lifting a few
weights may be the last thing you feel like doing, but it works, without the side effects of medication.

FOR EXCESS VAGINAL BLEEDING:
try 2 cups of nettle tea per day for 2 or 3 days. Nettle leaves are available in any health food store. Put 1-2 tsp in a cup of boiling water and steep for 5-10 minutes. This is perfectly safe and was recommended to me by a German pharmacist. It often works, but if bleeding continues to be heavy, see your doctor.

AT THE FIRST SIGN OF CYSTITIS (painful urination or urinary frequency, indicating infection)... drink two or three large glasses of very cold water followed by a crushed garlic glove. Garlic is a natural antibiotic. You can cook the garlic a little in the microwave to lessen some of the harsh taste.

IF YOU CRAVE ALCOHOL:
try adding oatmeal to your daily diet. Studies show that alcoholics have a genetic defect in making gamma linoleic acid (GLA), which is contained in oatmeal. Low levels of GLA increase the craving for alcohol.

FOR IMPOTENCE: (that has no specific medical "cause") follow a higher protein, higher fat (the good fats), low-carb diet.

Great health doesn't have to be difficult or filled with deprivation. Take charge of your mind and body and discover vibrant living!
